Interesting... Your older gadget works with the 64 bit sidebar, but the new one needs to run under the 32 bit sidebar.
ReplyDeletedude, where you been?
ReplyDelete@Richard - If you used the gadget with the 64-bit sidebar before it never refreshed the contact information/status. The message that shows now was suposed to show in the previous version, but there was a bug in the code.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous - Working, enjoying life and learning to fly one of this :)
@Yahya - I'm glad you liked it. Enjoy! :)
ReplyDeleteGood work!
ReplyDeleteI'm using the Messenger Gadget since a long time and I think it's one of the best gadgets I ever used!!!
ReplyDeleteBut I always missed a german translation.
Now I've translated the files gadgetLocalizedConstants.js and settingsLocalizedConstants.js.
Copy this files to your gadget-directory (C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets\MessengerGadget.gadget), then restart the gedget and you have the gadget in german! ;o)
You can download the translated files at www.bangemann.com
Greetings, Andreas.
Good luck with the flying and welcome back. Your gadget is the best most useful gadget in the history of this whole thing. We missed you!

ReplyDeleteNo Chance of a 64 bit version?
ReplyDeleteany chance it can have the color purple next upgrade? :-)
ReplyDeletepersonally, i get issues with the 5 release.
ReplyDeletesometimes the gadget doesn't start and crash live messenger. So: roll back to the 4 release.
Thank you a great gadget!
ReplyDeleteIs it possible that you integreate the live calender in a future version? It would be great to see the comming calender entries in the sidebar.
Version 5 and Win7 don't like each other much.
ReplyDeleteHaving nothing but problems with version 5 and Win7. Main problem is gadget does not display who is online at all. Have to close gadget and then start it up again.
Overall I give this 2/5 stars.
Any plans for some 64bit love?
ReplyDeleteis there one in french???
ReplyDeleteits good i tell my friend to pass it on i like it
ReplyDeleteFirst and foremost, thanks sincerely for creating this gadget. Up until this latest release, it has served me well. However, v5's insistence on having 32-bit sidebar.exe is simply a deal-breaker for myself, as I have no intention of re-launching sidebar.exe every time I've restarted my computer and want to use this gadget. If I understand properly, this conflict is due to the auto-update code not functioning under 64-bit? If that's the case, would it be possible to release both a 32-bit version (the current v5) AND a 64-bit version without auto-update? If so, that would be simply splendid. Thanks much for your time, and for your continued support of this project.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Don - not having 64-bit capability really hurts.
ReplyDeleteDon asked a good question: "If I understand properly, this conflict is due to the auto-update code not functioning under 64-bit?" To modufy that a bit, I would ask if the issue is that the auto-update code is 32-bit and will not run on a 64-bit sidebar, and if so, is there a way to port that code to 64-bit?
My guess is that the functionality (calls and such) in both versions of sidebar.exe are the same, even if the code isn't.... ot, to put it another way, I would assume that anything you can do in the 32-bit version you can do in the 64-bit version, but the code that does the call (or whatever) is different.
If that's the case, it shouldn't be too difficult to port this outstanding app to 64-bit. And a lot of us would really appreciate it!
hallo!
ReplyDeletei download this godget befor 7 months approximately but not this version but the program was so slow and it's Consume the Resources of my computer after that i don't use it 5 months but yesterday i see the new version and i download it and it's very nice and the last problem may be solved but the problem is this godget not support the features of messenger plus!
ReplyDeleteI just got the message that the gadget has an update. I clicked on the option to remind me later so that I could get on and chat with my friend now; but it won't give me the sign-in button! I can't use it until I upgrade it! So why have an option of doing the upgrade later? That doesn't make sense and is definitely a bug!
ReplyDeleteVery good, got it over the old Gadget ;-)
ReplyDeletegive some width please :)
ReplyDeleteand support Messengerplus nicknames (colors)
but still awesome thanks alot
Great gadget thanks.
ReplyDeleteIn the next version you make, could you make it possible to change background color and text color. That would be realy cool.
Other than that, I love it. Been using it from your first version.
I was using win 7 32bit for the trial version, I recently had to upgrade and the version my husband got from work was 64bit, now it doesn't work. I'm so disappointed :(
ReplyDeleteow...thnx man..datz a nyc gadget!
ReplyDeleteGreat Gadget! But, I have a 64bit system, as do a large number of people these days. I'm not interested in running sidebar in 32 bit mode just for this gadget. a 64bit version would be much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteits very cool
